The field cable laying versions of the NSU Kettenkrad

Sd.Kfz. 2/1: Kleines Kettenkraftrad für Feldfernkabel (For long distance field telephone cable)

"Feldfernkabel" (Long distance field telephone cable) is a shielded four wire field telephone cable.

The reels for "Feldfernkabel" are much bigger and heavier than the reels for the standard "Schwere Feldkabel".

The "Kettenkrad für Feldfernkabel", Sd.Kfz. 2/1 comes with the special trailer:

The "Anhänger (1-achsig) für kleines Kettenkraftrad für Feldfernkabel", Sd.Anh. 1/1.

The Sd.Anh. 1/1 carries two extra reels with Feldfernkabel.

Sd.Kfz. 2/2: Kleines Kettenkraftrad für schweres Feldkabel (For heavy field telephone cable)

"Schweres Feldkabel" (Heavy field cable) is unshielded two wire field cable (twisted pair) to connect field telephones.

This is the official Wehrmacht picture:

The poles on the right side of the hull are hooks to attach the cable to trees. Picture shows very early vehicle with 8-spoked inner wheels and bigger holes in the outer wheels.

The reels for "Schweres Feldkabel" are relatively small compared with the reels for the "Feldfernkabel". They were often carried by a soldier on a rack on his back (when cable laying) or in front of his chest (when removing the cables). Such a rack can be seen on the top of the Kettenkrad. Note the tube frame to protect the driver.

The Kettenkrad für schweres Feldkabel Sd.Kfz. 2/2 comes with the
"Anhänger (1-achsig) für kleines Kettenkraftrad für schweres Feldkabel", Sd.Anh. 1/2:

The Sd.Anh. 1/2 carries a rack for the smaller field cable reels.

Note, that all the pictures show very early versions of the Kettenkrad with eight-spoked wheels.

DRAGON Model Ltd. offers a model kit of a cable laying Kettenkrad in 1/35 scale:

Unfortunately there is something wrong: The text on the box says: "Sd.Kfz. 2/2 Kleines Kettenkrad für schweres Feldkabel" but the picture on the box shows a "Sd.Kfz. 2/1 Kleines Kettenkrad für Feldfernkabel" and the model kit in the box is also a "Sd.Kfz. 2/1 Kleines Kettenkrad für Feldfernkabel".

How many modellers have already recognized that?
